Last night, the Pats faced the Camden Riversharks in Game 1 of the series. The Riversharks scored first on a 2 run home run by Alex Hudak in the top of the 4th while Somerset answered back in the bottom of the inning on a Luis Montenez RBI making it 2-1. The Patriots tied it up in the 5th with a Jonny Tucker RBI as we had a 2-2 game heading into the 6th. The Patriots rallied 2 runs in the 6th from a RBI fielders choice and an error making it 4-2 Somerset as the umpires called the tarp on to the field canceling the rest of the game. Pats vs Ducks Finale
Sunday was the last game of the series as the Patriots were going for the sweep. In the 1st, Somerset scored on an error that allowed Nate Spears to score making it 1-0. Ducks tied it up on a sacrifice fly at the top of the 3rd and they also got another sacrifice fly in the top of the 4th to make it 2-1. Another one at the top of the 5th and a RBI made the score 4-1 as Somerset wasn't showing their best offense. They
finally rallied 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th, but it didn't help as the Ducks scored 2 more runs making the final score 6-3. The Patriots still won the series as they move on to face the River Sharks on Tuesday (My Birthday) at 7:05 PM.

Pats vs Ducks Series: Game 2
After last night's 15-inning spectacular, the Pats looked to win again last night as they played the Ducks in game 2 of 3 in the season opening series. The game got stopped after a strange power outage as the outfield lights went off, but 20 minutes later, the game went back on as Somerset was on a roll last night as it started in the bottom of the 1st as Nate Spears, Luis Montenez and Ty Wright hit RBIs to get the score to 3-0. But it didn't stop there, Tucker scored on a error and Dennis Raben hit a RBI single sending Nate Spears to score making the score 5-0. The Pats later scored 4 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd including RBI doubles by Montanez and Tucker to make it 9-0 as the offense was on fire last night. The Ducks scored in the 6th by a 2-run single making the score 9-2. Patriots starter Matt Maloney picked up the win allowing 2 runs in 5 hits in 5 innings. He pitched as the Ducks starter got the loss letting 9 runs score in 11 hits in the 2 innings that he pitched. Final game of the series is at 1:05 Eastern.

Opening day: WALK-OFF
Last night, Baseball returned to TD bank ballpark after a long winter as the Pats opened up 2014 by facing the Long Island Ducks. It was all tied at 0 but in the bottom of the 2nd, Dennis Raben hit his first home run as a Patriot, but in the top of the 4th the Ducks took the lead with a RBI and a sacrfice fly as the score was 2-1. Somerset tied it up in the bottom of the 6th inning with a RBI from Nate Spears. No scoring after that as we went 8 innings with out a score! It was the bottom of the 15th as Jonny Tucker (my favorite player) came up to bat and hit a RBI DOUBLE TO WIN! Patriots win 3-2 in season opener!
Don't miss tonight's game as the Patriots face the Ducks in the 2nd game of the series.

Spring training recap
With opening day in 2 days, Spring training is wrapping up and everyone is getting ready to start the season. So, Lets recap what Somerset had done in training this year. The Pats have played 3 practice games with other Atlantic league teams with the team looking good in all games. Somerset has not signed back most players from last year's epic run to the championship as we have lost names like Jake Fox, Aldridge, E-mart, Bobby Stevens, and Yunesky Sanchez, but....We still have some great last year players like Corey smith, Aharon Eggleston, Luis montanez, and my favorite JONNY TUCKER and some more. Also, Somerset has signed some great new faces to the team like Scott Kelly, Damaso Espino, Nate Spears and more. But lets focus on the team its self no, Manager Brett Jodie has been running drills and scrimmages for the team to find their strength and weaknesses to work on for 2014. Here is what Jodie said on Day 8 of training as they scrimmaged against the Riversharks, "They showed alot of patience at the plate and we got on base alot from some big key hits which lead to some runs as the pitchers pounded the zone as we didn't walk a batter all game and some great strikeouts as we played great today." Thats what we want to hear! If Somerset can keep on getting great key hits and the pitchers keep giving great outings I think Somerset can be a championship contending team for 2014.

Spring training cuts
spring training is a time to show your stuff and make it to the roster for the season. somerset's 1st cuts were today as the cut off a few players including the veteran Miguel Abreu. Abreu has played all postions except catcher and pitcher in his 9-year career, He couldn't find good at-bats which the team needs so miguel will not be playing for somerset in 2014.

Player highlight: Corey Smith
in 2013, Corey smith had an all-star season with a .269 batting average, 84 RBI, 29 doubles and 20 home runs as he was named player of the month in may with 27 RBI with 27 games played as he was the alantic league all-star game MVP. Corey smith is a clutch player but as we head into 2014 without Jake fox and Aldridge, Corey smith has to be clutch again as somerset looks for 2014 to be their year

Open tryouts
last saturday at fan fest, adults and kids enjoyed them self BUT their was still some real business going on as the patriots held open tryouts to see if the can find more players for the roster and the found 2 players that really stuck out to them. Pitcher J.D Reichenbach and in-fielder Scott Kelly, JD has had experience in the cleveland indians franchise playing in carolina with the indians single-A team with a 3.30 ERA and 38 strikeouts. Scott played for the University of NJ a .331 batting average last season. shall these players be a great new addition to the roster? or late cuts in spring training?

Spring training about to begin...
in 8 days, somerset patriots spring training will begin. but before that, the team has to re-sign or add players to the 2014 roster. Today, we will talk about 3 young pitchers from 2013 who have rocked last season. josh and jason lowey and david harden. Jason Lowey went 7-4 with a 1.76 ERA and Josh Lowey led the pats in wins last year with a 14-8 year as They made the Lowey family a big name down in somerset. also, david harden finished 2013 with a 10-2 record and a 3.39 ERA with 63 strikeouts. somerset should be happy to get these fine pitchers back for 2014.
